Israel and Iran: A love story?

Peace Flower Mandala mediumWhen war between Israel and Iran seemed imminent, Israeli graphic designer Ronny Edry shared a poster on Facebook of himself and his daughter with a bold message: “Iranians … we [heart] you.” Other Israelis quickly created their own posters with the same message — and Iranians responded in kind. The simple act of communication inspired surprising Facebook communities like “Israel loves Iran,” “Iran loves Israel” and even “Palestine loves Israel.”

Ron Edry: “This is the courageous thing to do: to try to reach the other side before it’s too late.”

This is a wonderful example of how someone followed his heart and became the instrument for real change in the world. The peace frequency that has blossomed or you could even say, mushroomed, around this man and his family is for me proof that a new paradigm is starting to show itself since 2012.

Why you should listen to him:

Ronny Edry, Graphic Designer of Israel accidentally created an online movement for peace in the Middle East when he posted a Facebook image that declared “Iranians, we will never bomb your country.”

Ronny Edry is a graphic designer, teacher, father and frequent Facebook updater. While he often posted images on the site without much fanfare, in March of 2012 one of his images garnered international attention. The image showed himself and his daughter, along with the words “Iranians, we will never bomb your country. We heart you.” This accidentally created an online movement for peace in the Middle East and became a catalyst for dialogue between the people of two nations on the brink of war.

Edry grew up in Paris, France, and has lived in Israel since 1989. He teaches Visual Communication at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design and is the author of several graphic novels. He is also the owner and founder of “Pushpin,” a prep school for art and design.

“It is not possible to dial an Iranian number from an Israeli telephone. It will simply not go through. That lack of communication stems from the government level, where there is no dialogue between the two countries aside from public speeches meant to carry weighty threats of war to each camp. That is why it was so difficult for Ronny Edry, an Israeli graphic designer based in Tel Aviv, to get his message across to the people of Iran.” (CNN)

  1. Reblogged this on WordsFallFromMyEyes and commented:
I admit I am pretty dumb when it comes to ground roots realities. All I am aware of (worldly) is what I’ve seen in media.
I admit I know little about Muslims but they cover their women in bed sheets and force them to live under a sheet all their lives despite vitamin D deficiencies, and this male-determined decree is related somehow to some god and something about breaking the hymens of women untouched being quite the treat, to die for. They also seem to have a religion which is anti-others (westerners, mostly).
And I admit I know nothing about Israel and Iran and the only Iranian I’ve known was a new girl at school, Rania. When a friend from Perth visited Melbourne recently and took me to dinner and spoke of his Iranian friend, looked at my puzzlement trying to conjure an image of an Iranian, mentioned Persia, and I responded that I knew what a Persian cat looked like, then realised how daft I was, I most shamefully admit, overall, a terrible lack of education about me.

What I DO know though is when I see pawns on a chess board activate themselves and start moving in directions they choose to. THAT, to me, is to die for.

    • Yes, I agree completely: we are seeing the “pawns” starting to wake up all over the place and start to move in directions they want to – and they are just beginning to find out what that is that they truly want, after having been in a ‘consumer trance’ for ages 😉 – It won’t happen overnight, but it is happening. Thanks for your great response! ♥ Tomas

  2. If not for you, I would never have seen this. Outstanding. And I thank you.

I love the way he unfolded the story, how normal it was for him, just posting a pic. And I love he said the way he answered people even though he thought ‘what?’… they being not his “neighbours” so to speak.

“Everybody is crying now!” This is just great!! I love this, how it developed.

    THANK YOU.
