I listened to the leaves falling this morning

exquisite space so clear and crisp

“when your mind contains no plan

wherever you go it’s alert”

this is living to the fullest

allowing to show up out of itself

my cup empty my screen blank

upon becoming invisible I love

upon becoming invisible

the invisible shows Itself – only that

 slakes my thirst.

i must drop all points of reference

all identity, all characteristics,

all carry-overs of ‘me’,

all that i want, i prefer, i am,

and yet be infinitely gentle

The man in the purple suit

Original Post: The man in the purple suit

I had a gig on Sunday afternoon in Adelaide, in a quaint old stone building called “The Chapel” within the precinct of the Migration Museum. Afterwards, chatting with audience members (friends and strangers), I met Melvyn Cann, a silver-haired gentleman in an elegant, but slightly crumpled, purple suit and snake-skin shoes. He complimented me on my shakuhachi playing and talked of his sadness that, on the whole, musicians no longer perform with spiritual depth, not like they did in his youth (I am not expressing this as eloquently as he did). He was clearly a musician, and I soon discovered, also a poet. We exchanged details and I cheekily asked him for a review.

Divine Mystery of the Universe

ORIGINAL POST here

Mystry of the Universe

MYSTERY OF THE UNIVERSE Rassouli

Sometimes when I awaken in this wilderness of silence beneath the moon visions of the elegance of creation dance me into a heightened awareness of the phenomenal variation of life

Blessed to see and behold unending moments of wonder here on earth the blinding radiance of it all breaks free in the gaze of love

Suddenly am free falling into deep dimensions of timelessness a matrix of mystic seeds in a womb filled with silent music waiting to be born stirring with a longing desire to create a form

Playing with words letting them tumble into being sometimes claiming a place by finding a space on the pristine wilderness of a blank page an untouched field of light inviting love’s expression a composition that arranges itself in a flowing revelation of new life

Life is seeking union with love to reveal itself through the precious spirit hidden within us

We are designed to receive the Beloved who is forever forming us to become the light that reveals the glory and grace of love

i am learning how to be a flower

An amazing poem about the agenda of light for Humanity in this time ~

“There are so many songs waiting in the garden of your belly for permission to grow…”

“There is a universe in my body…”

“but i am learning how to be a flower…”

An original poem written & performed by Dominque Ashaheed :: poet, teacher, mama, international women’s slam poetry champion 2012, national slam poetry champion 2012

How this poem came to be, in the words of Katie Hess:

“I first saw Dominique perform at the Lohas Conference in 2012. Seeing her in person you get a full-on dose of her power. She has an other-worldly gift: when she speaks, the sound of her voice reaches down and grabs something so deep in your heart, you come undone.

Desiderata – Words for Life by Max Ehrmann

Max Ehrmann

Max Ehrmann (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Rise up nimbly and go on your strange journey to the ocean of meanings…

Rumi

rumi-dervish

“In the mid-thirteenth century, in a dusty marketplace in Konya, Turkey, a city where Muslim, Christian, Hindu, and Buddhist travelers mingled, Jelaluddin Rumi, a popular philosopher and scholar, met Shams of Tabriz, a wandering dervish.  Their meeting forever altered the course of Rumi’s life and influenced the mystical evolution of the planet.  The bond they formed was everlasting–a powerful transcendent friendship that would flow through Rumi as some of the world’s best-loved ecstatic poetry.
