Not only is our breath where the voluntary and the involuntary nervous system intersect, but also more deeply there is a connection to our soul. The flow of the breath is more than merely the physical intake of oxygen with the air – vital energy, qi or prana flows through our energy system in rhythm with the breath. This flow of prana increases in a direct ratio to the intensity of our awareness while breathing. When we visualize and begin to ‘feel’ the qi-flow in rhythm with our breath, qi fills our energy field increasingly. Continue reading
‘Call of 13 Shamans’
Stunning pictures as shamans from around the world gather in Sayan Mountains.
A shaman, in the dictionary definition, is ‘a person regarded as having access to, and influence in, the world of good and evil spirits, especially among some peoples of northern Asia and North America. Typically such people enter a trance state during a ritual, and practise divination and healing.’
These images – giving an extraordinary glimpse inside this largely unknown world – have emerged of a conclave held this summer over nine days near the village Khorum-Dag in Tyva Republic.
This festival, named ‘Call of 13 Shamans’ was held in an area of Siberia that retains great respect for shamans and was intended as a show of unity by the planet’s most respected practitioners.
An amazing poem about the agenda of light for Humanity in this time ~
“There are so many songs waiting in the garden of your belly for permission to grow…”
“There is a universe in my body…”
“but i am learning how to be a flower…”
An original poem written & performed by Dominque Ashaheed :: poet, teacher, mama, international women’s slam poetry champion 2012, national slam poetry champion 2012
How this poem came to be, in the words of Katie Hess:
“I first saw Dominique perform at the Lohas Conference in 2012. Seeing her in person you get a full-on dose of her power. She has an other-worldly gift: when she speaks, the sound of her voice reaches down and grabs something so deep in your heart, you come undone.
There is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart are my temples; my philosophy is kindness.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Strive to be happy.

I left Gold Beach last Thursday, February 28th, and traveled with my wife Alia down to Elk Grove, California (just south of Sacramento). Her 30 year old son Bryan has just returned from his tour of duty with the Army to Okinawa, Japan and we went to his Homecoming Party at his Dad’s place where he is staying at the moment. We returned Monday evening and I am now looking at the impressions the trip left me with.
We rarely leave our little town of Gold Beach (2300 inhabitants) here on the Southern Oregon Coast and when we do it is just a short trip to the next larger town of Brookings (6500 inhabitants) for some basic shopping. So this was a foray out into the ‘real world’, with Walmarts, Targets, huge Walgreens, Ray’s, Starbucks everywhere as well as the usual Denny’s etc, etc. which include tremendous parking lots, divided roads and all the rules you have to play by in order to function there – all of which doesn’t exist in Gold Beach.
The Shamanic Drum Beat in words by Heidi!
Mantra say over and again,
Vibrating within; a meditation refrain.
Circle, sway, shuffle, dance:
Chant and drum drum into trance…
Shaman-like the Spirit moves
Hear the thu-thunder of ethereal hooves-
Flying free riding the Shaman’s Horse
Taking an unusual dream-like course
To the sound of the d-rum d-rum beat
Released from the body Travelling fleet
And fast and sure and knowing
Seeking answers and wisdom with power growing
Teachers and Guides and Allies heed the call
When the Shaman rides and journeys all
Respect given and respect shown in turn-
The tempo changes calling Come! Return!
Boom-boom boom-boom the Shaman heeds
The rhythmic sound of his trusty steed
And like a heart- beat in conscious sound
The Shaman’s Horse brings him safely to ground.
