Today I want to showcase this wonderful woman. Her TED Talk is deeply insightful and will provide food for contemplation on topics that many of us are pondering in our own lives. Thandie Newton is also a STRONG VOICE FOR WOMEN and very active in the campaign ONE BILLION RISING to stop abuse against women all over the world. Please see the related articles at the bottom for more on her activities as a voice for women.
“Swinging from Hollywood blockbusters to sensitive indie films, Thandie Newton brings thoughtfulness and delicate beauty to her work.” TED.com
Why you should listen to her:
Filmgoers first encountered Thandie Newton in the 1991 film Flirting, a tender and skin-crawlingly honest film about young love and budding identity. In her career since then, she’s brought that same intimate touch even to big Hollywood films (she was the moral center of Mission: Impossible II, for instance, and the quiet heart of the head-banging 2012), while maintaining a strong sideline in art films, like the acclaimed Crash and last year’s adaptation of Ntozake Shange’s For colored girls … Continue reading →
I present to you the work of one man in South Central Los Angeles that has changed the world and who through his work is creating peace in his own backyard. His name is Ron Finley and his self-chosen title is A Guerilla Gardener. What he has done with his passion is to infuse his neighborhood and the people living there with the indomitable spirit of independence and freedom and living together in peace. His spirit has caught hold and now has a life of its own, stewarded by him and reaching out more and more, growing and thriving.
Today, the 8th of March, International Women’s Day,
is the day to honor Women!
I, as most men in this culture, and indeed in many cultures around the planet, have been raised to see women as inferior in many ways. Seldom have the women’s unique strengths and abilities been brought to our consciousness. I was very fortunate to have attracted strong women to my side who have supported me to turn my back on the prevalent cultural conditioning of men regarding the female gender.
Dear Brothers, please take a look today at my post on Heart Wisdom in which I have listed some of the qualities of the Goddess Energy that all MEN are called to honor in order to bring about our healing at this threshold to the New Humanity. Continue reading →
1. Smiling Makes Us Attractive
We are drawn to people who smile. There is an attraction factor. We want to know a smiling person and figure out what is so good. Frowns, scowls and grimaces all push people away — but a smile draws them in (avoid these smile aging habits to keep your smile looking great).
2. Smiling Changes Our Mood
Next time you are feeling down, try putting on a smile. There’s a good chance you mood will change for the better. Smiling can trick the body into helping you change your mood.
3. Smiling Is Contagious
When someone is smiling they lighten up the room, change the moods of others, and make things happier. A smiling person brings happiness with them. Smile lots and you will draw people to you.
4. Smiling Relieves Stress Stress can really show up in…
I like these passages because they show how Jeff takes us into self-enquiry step by step, much like Krishnamurti, Eckhart Tolle or Gangaji, going deeper and deeper, “gently but directly pointing people back to the deep acceptance inherent in the present moment.” Continue reading →
Living Love Day 12 is about Freedom. Such a big word and so many interpretations.
Below you can read Lizzie’s contribution to the topic of Freedom in a Yahoo discussion group on OPPT recently. It helped me ‘color in’ what freedom is when we take it out of the ideological realm and bring it into our daily life. Today’s Love Tweet by Omnipresent Lovesays that love is the flow of our true nature. When we are not in the love frequency then something in us is blocking the flow of our true nature.
12. To love is to be free for there is nothing blocking the flow of our true nature ♥
Just letting Lizzie’s questions sink in is for me a powerful meditation and attunement to love. Please enjoy it:
I am posting this very uplifting letter by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés, an American poet, post-trauma specialist and Jungian psychoanalyst. Her book Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of The Wild Woman Archetype was on the New York Times Best Seller list for 145 weeks . She is the Managing Editor of themoderatevoice.com (TMV).
For me, especially after Winter Solstice 2012, this letter speaks to the vaster perspective on our current situation on Earth. Continue reading →
