This is a state of mind – and we call it “the waking state”. This waking state is a modification of the mind – in other words it is a thought-form. Its name is “I”. That is because the root of this waking state is the thought-form “I”. The ancients say that its name is actually ‘I-I’. The double ‘I’ signifies the reflection of “I” in Itself. When the “I”, which is functioning with this waking state, turns upon itself (instead of being ‘outward-turned’), it can follow the path whence it came and it can reach its source, its point of inception. There is absolute consciousness as “I”, and so in this meeting with Itself there is ‘I-I’. The “I” merges into Itself.
