not escape in any direction

“Can the mind face and live with this emptiness, and not escape in any direction?”

Our lives consist of activities that fill the emptiness. It takes great determination and discipline to keep space open and free from pre-structured activities. All of our daily tasks seem so important and essential for our lives that we hardly ever have space to just be, to allow our thoughts to settle and to contemplate deeply what “emptiness” really is. Can we ever allow ourselves to feel what eternity means? What infinity means? We are so caught up in trivial pursuits that we have forgotten that there is something “else”, something much larger and grand, behind all of this dusty world.

“No one knows that I have left the dusty world, climbing the southern slope of Cold Mountain”
