“Happiness is strange…

“Happiness is strange; it comes when you are not seeking it. When you are not making an effort to be happy, then unexpectedly, mysteriously, happiness is there, born of purity, of a loveliness of being.”

  1. Reading this reminds me of a chapter in his biography by jayakar – ” Happy is the man who is nothing ” – which kept me going during my college days .

    • I love Pupul Jayakar’s book! Yes, one of the first statements of K that struck me to my core was similar: “You are nothing. .. If we can be aware of the truth of this fear, then it is the truth that liberates us from it, and not our purposeful determination to be free.” Thanks for your thoughtful response ~ tomas

  2. Everyone loves such surprises – I started Monday morning extremely happy – no known reasons and nothing extraordinary all day – but remained high with happiness.

    • It does happen, and it seems to me to be happening more often. I love the sense of just being open to the moment, and the next, and the next… and not projecting too much what might make me happy. Cheers! ☼ tomas
